Tyler’s Story
Tyler and his twin brother were removed from the family home in early 2021 following concerns over their safety. The Serious Organised Crime Intervention Service was involved at the time due to concerns that Tyler and his brother could be forced into serious criminality.
Tyler and his brother were placed in residential care being considered at risk of exploitation if they remained where they were. This was followed by a period of foster care for both Tyler and his brother.
Tyler left the care system on his eighteenth birthday and is now living with his grandmother. Before Tyler applied for and was offered the apprenticeship from Keepmoat, he was attending Trinity Academy on an employability programme which incorporated some elements of construction. This raised his interest in a career in the industry.
Tyler has recently passed his apprenticeship and has enjoyed every minute of it. Due to his total dedication, attitude, motivation and willingness to learn Tyler has now been given a fantastic opportunity with Keepmoat as a Trainee Site Manager. Tyler is aware there is a long road ahead of him to learn everything he needs to, but is determined to get there. Tyler has been enrolled onto Level 4 Apprentice Site Manager at New College Durham.
