Movement to Work: Unlocking Opportunities for Young People
Empowering young people to break down barriers and build brighter futures
Who is Movement to Work?
For thousands of young people across the UK, finding a job isn’t as simple as submitting a CV. Many face significant barriers to employment, from a lack of experience to systemic disadvantages that make entering the workforce more difficult. With almost 800,000 young people not in education, employment or training (NEET), and over 2.5 million economically inactive, Movement to Work (MtW) is tackling this crisis head-on.
Since its founding, MtW has been dedicated to helping employers create high-quality employability opportunities for young people aged 16-30. By working in partnership with major businesses, training providers, and youth outreach organisations, MtW provides free, no-cost support to companies willing to invest in young people’s futures.
The Movement to Work Offer
MtW connects young people with life-changing opportunities in vocational training and work experience, helping them gain skills, confidence, and access to sustainable careers. Through partnerships with over 100 top employers, including Accenture, BT, Tesco, M&S, Unilever, and BAE Systems, MtW has already delivered over 155,000 employment opportunities—and is now on track to reach 200,000+ faster than ever before.
MtW’s support for businesses includes:

Meet Rachel – From Unemployed to a Thriving Career in Hospitality
Rachel’s journey with Movement to Work began when she was struggling to find a job in the hospitality sector. Without prior work experience, she faced constant rejection and lacked confidence in her abilities. Through MtW’s partnership with Marriott, Rachel was able to access a tailored work experience programme, which provided on-the-job training, mentorship, and networking opportunities.
Thanks to the programme, Rachel secured a full-time role at Marriott and has since progressed into a management position, proving that the right support can turn potential into success.
“Being employed has changed my life. I feel confident, independent, and I finally have a clear career path ahead of me.” – Rachel, Movement to Work Graduate
