Could you be a finalist, or perhaps know someone who could be?

Applications for this year’s awards are now open and we look forward to receiving entries up to the closing date of the 31st July.

The Young Builder of the Year Awards is a celebration of the achievements of young people who have overcome personal challenges or barriers to succeed in training for, and/or gaining employment in the construction industry.

The competition, which began in 2000, is open to young builders from across the UK and is now entering its 20th year.  To celebrate this milestone, all twenty finalists will be invited to this year’s awards ceremony, which will be held at the House of Commons on Wednesday 16th October 2019, when this year’s winners will be announced.

Entrance into the awards is open to young builders who are either:

  • 18 to 24 years old and in employment or training;
  • 14 to 18 years old and still in education or training (including apprentices).

This year’s prize fund is £7,500 and all shortlisted finalists will receive a certificate, a tools prize and a trip on the London Eye.

Subject to the judge’s discretion, the winner of the 18 to 24 year old category may receive up to £1,500 (including tools), with further awards being made to the runners up.
