New President and Trustees for Youthbuild UK

The Trustees of Youthbuild UK are delighted to announce that Rt Hon John Hayes MP has been appointed as the new President of Youthbuild UK.

Mr Hayes has supported Youthbuild UK since he addressed the 2011 Young Builder of the Year Awards in his role as Minister of State for Further Education, Skills and Lifelong Learning. At the Awards, Mr Hayes reaffirmed: ‘the government’s commitment to creating opportunities and apprenticeships to redress the levels of unemployment within the 16 to 24 year old age group’. He praised Youthbuild UK for celebrating the ‘vocational’ achievements of young people, stating that: ‘too often people are only recognised for their academic achievements’.

Stephen Ratcliffe, Chairman of Youthbuild said that he looked forward to a: ‘long and successful working relationship with John’.

The Trustees would like to take this opportunity to thank our outgoing President Rt Hon Baroness Smith of Basildon for her unstinting support over the last 4 years.
