THE YOUTH BUILDER OF THE YEAR AWARDS 2012
The winners of the 2012 Young Builder of the Year were announced at the Awards Ceremony held at the House of Commons on Thursday, 18th October 2012.
14 to 16 Year Old Category
Winner: Ryan Andrews
Runner up: Jak Anson Williams

16 to 24 Year Old Category
Winner: Steven Ellis
Runner up: Roxanne Grey

Over 140 people, including politicians, senior figures from the construction industry, colleges, training organisations, finalists and their families and supporters, gathered on the House of Commons Terrace to celebrate the achievements of the 2012 finalists.
The 2011 runner up Kerri Chambers, tells the audience about what she has achieved in the last year, including becoming a trainee quantity surveyor with Skanska (one of our long term sponsors).
Steve Brown, captain of the Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby team, gave an inspiring speech about how he was determined not to let becoming paralysed blight his future. He urged the audience to “work hard and make the most of any opportunities they got”.
Lindsay Hoyle MP, Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons, told the audience that he had started working life as a bricklayer. He said that construction was a fantastic industry to get into as there were so many opportunities to progress.
