New Chief Executive for CECA

Alasdair Reisner

Youthbuild UK are delighted to report that Alasdair Reisner, who has been one of the judges of the Young Builder of the Year Awards since 2011, was appointed as Chief Executive of the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA) in April this year.

The Civil Engineering Contractors Association is the representative body for companies who work day-to-day to deliver, upgrade, and maintain the country’s infrastructure.

With more than 300 members, employing around 250,000 people, split across eight regions, CECA represents firms who together carry out an estimated 70-80 per cent of all civil engineering activity in the UK, worth some £15 billion, in the key sectors of transport, energy, communications, waste and water.

Alasdair stated “as our industry drives out of recession it remains vitally important that we attract the next generation of workers who will create the new infrastructure of the 21st century. I am proud to support Youthbuild and look forward to this year’s judging. I hope that some of the candidates will see the awards as a first stepping stone on the way to a rewarding career in our sector.”

Alasdair was formerly CECA’s Director of External Affairs, having joined from Construction News in 2008.
