New Judge for 2014 Awards

Youthbuild UK (YBUK) are delighted to announce that Neil Carroll, Managing Director of Toolstation has agreed to join the Judging Panel for the 2014 Awards.

For further information please see the Judges page on our website.

This is an exciting development in the growing partnership between YBUK and Toolstation which began in September 2013 when Toolstation stepped in at the last minute to donate the “tools prizes”.

For the 2014 Awards Toolstation are donating a prize fund of £5,000, with the Winner of the 16 to 24 year olds category receiving £1,000 of tools and the Runner Up £500 of tools. The Winner of the 14 to 16 year old category and their training organisation both receive £500 of tools. The remainder of the tools prize fund being shared between the remaining finalists.

Toolstation will set up individual accounts for all twenty finalists to the value of their prizes. Each finalist can then choose tools, up to the value of their award, from the extensive range of tools on offer in the Toolstation catalogue.

Neil Carroll, Managing Director at Toolstation comments:

“ Toolstation is pleased to be the prize sponsor of the Young Builder Awards again this year. To help support the future of the building trade is an honour. There is incredible talent out there and it is great to see this recognised through these awards.”

Rt Hon Nick Raynsford MP, President of Youthbuild UK launched the 15th Young Builder of the Year Awards today, 6th May 2014.

This launch is timely, following as it does on the recent call from the All-Party Parliamentarians’ Inquiry No more lost generations, for a major expansion in training and employment opportunities for young people in construction.

The finalists will be invited to the Awards Ceremony on Wednesday 15th October 2014 at the House of Commons, when I very much look forward to meeting them.”
