WINNERS ANNOUNCED

The winners of the 2010 Young Builder of the Year Awards were announced at the House of Commons on Wednesday 20th October by the Right Honourable Nick Raynsford MP, President of Youthbuild UK.

The overall winner was Omar Cila, of Notting Hill Construction Training Initiative, London. Jordan Dean of CD Training in Sheffield was the winner of the 14 to 16 year old category.

Over 100 guests and 21 finalists enjoyed a day in the Autumn sunshine, when Jordan Dean was announced as the winner of the 14 to 16 year old category and Omar Cila named Young Builder of the Year 2010.

Speeches from our sponsors – Imtiaz Farookhi of NHBC, Steve Cooper of Skanska, Mike Andrews of NCHA and Rob Nettleton of Coastline Housing – underlined the need to give opportunities to and invest in the training of young people to create the workforce of the future.

John Montague, Chair of Youthbuild UK, stated that the awards “celebrated young people’s success” and that “Youthbuild UK has helped provide many young people, often with backgrounds damaged through no fault of their own, with the foundations on which they can begin to rebuild their self esteem.”
