Guest speaker for the Young Builder of the Year awards announced
John had a very turbulent and difficult time as a young person and fully understands how the finalists of this year’s Young Builder of the Year Awards have had to overcame barriers in their personal lives to succeed in the construction industry.
He says that he has ” transformed himself from being part of the problem of society into being part of the solution”.
In recognition of his services he was created a life peer in 2015, Lord Bird of Nottinghill.
Finalists for the 2016 Young Builder of the Year are announced

Following the judging process, carried out during August, this year’s finalists have been chosen. There are six from the 14 to 18 year old category and fifteen from the 18 to 24 year old category.

New Chair for Youthbuild UK
Stephen Ratcliffe, formerly Director of UKCG, was appointed as Chair of Youthbuild UK at the Trustees meeting held on 6th April 2016. Stephen has been involved with Youthbuild UK for the last 5 years as Chair of the Young Builder of the Year Awards Judging Panel and became a Trustee in November 2015.
